Williams had no charisma. I don't see why it would have any impact.

Plus he cheated at MTG, or so I'm told.
I think Greg is much better for poker because he is very articulate, older (than in his 20's), and was doing quite well for himself before he won which gives him the ability to lure more people with lots of cash into poker because people who work full time professional jobs have way more money than some chump in college. |

Re: Would poker be more popular if David Williams won last year?
My thoughts on this do not have as much to do with the players themselves than they do with how the media would react regardless of the player's personalities.
I think the media would have made a bigger deal out of the event if David won. Media outlets that didn't cover the story would have, and those that did would have covered it more in depth. I find it difficult to believe that someone could make a compelling argument to the contrary. "Youngest player ever" winning "5 million dollars" is quite the headline. More media coverage, more new players. IE. If Sammy won in 2003, I truly believe it would have been less of a story than the Moneymaker win. Also, in regards to "working professional adults having more money." That has nothing to do with overall popularity. The younger the person is, the more likely they're willing to jump on "the next big thing". In the grand scheme of things, 16-24 year olds are the tastemakers. From music, to technology, and on and on. |

A followup question:
If you could pick someone to win the ME this year, who (or what type of person) would you choose to help propel poker's popularity the most? |

A 21 year old absolutely stunning biracial female that talks a lot of [censored], is full of spunk and is just and all around great player. One that is willing to pose for playboy would be great too.
