Default compliments

What's the best compliment you've ever recieved?

A good friend of mine recently passed away, and it made me think of a compliment he once paid me. He and I were team mates in a top division competitive pool league. Over the course of several years I made a point of scrutinizing his play, and incorporating the finer elements of his game into into my own. Whether he knew it or not, he was a bit of a mentor to me and I respected his opinion immensely.

Last year he had a bit of a slow start to the season. No-one mentioned it to him as we all knew he'd find his own way back. Sure enough, several weeks go by and BAM! Out of the blue his game shifts into high gear, and he's playing the best pool of his life.

I take him aside and ask how he achieved such a radical turnaround in his game.

"Mick", he says, "To be honest, I just decided to make a point of playing more like you. Any time I'd get in trouble, I'd ask myself: "What would Mick do here?"".

That may be the best compliment I have ever recieved. What's yours?

My son got an 'invisible' pen for his birthday recently, and has been scribbling stuff on a pad, and then shining a UV light on it to read the message. I was checking through it the other day, and found 'Dad is awesome x2'.

That was pretty damn good.

hard to top ones involving parents/children.

my most recent heartwarmer came from my brother. we don't share the same father - his dad is the one that's responsible for a lot of the gruesome childhood stories i've posted. i took him to a casino for his 21st birthday with my gf and a friend. he's not talkative, and he spontaneously expressed to my gf when i wasn't around how happy it makes him that i never call him my half-brother.

when my dad told me I'd become a man in his eyes, sometime in my freshman year in college. I cried.

crazy ex: whatefer you're never there when I [censored] need you anyways so lates
crazy ex: nevermind I take that back you used to always be there for me and I loved you for it but I understand that things are different and I'm sorry i hurt you and I just wish ik hadn't, but since I did I'm sorry and i just whish we could at least be some sort of friends again sometime, i think you're being [censored] childish about this but it's not my call, maybe you do desreve better than me and maybe I deserve someone better than you, thatn's just how it goes but I hope that we can at least han gout once in a while because I think we had some good times other than theamazing z sex which good lord jonny you [censored] me like no ther and I'll always love you for that
