I think calling is a better plan, but I'm not gonna lie, if its against a typical party player, in the heat of battle, I'm probably gonna ram and jam

Not if you don't like money.
If you bet, you'll be called by sooo many crappier hands like Ax, a 6, a small pocketpair. Even if you do get raised, i'd still expect you to be good a good proportion of the time.

Seems like it might be a "worse hands fold, better hands raise" situation...

I basically suck at these river decisions and am trying to work on that aspect of my game. Any advice is appreciated.

He may have the king, but it is far more likely that he thinks his pocket pair is good and you are ahead of 99 and lower (and it serves him right if he slowplayed his set [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]). I was going to say call, but the more I think about this the more I'm thinking 3-betting would be better.
