Default 2/5NL tough river for a full house

Hero is in the CO with $400 and has a tight image. Villain, a good aggressive player, is UTG with $600. The rest of the table is fairly passive.

Pre-flop: Hero is dealt 66

Villain raises to $15, MP calls, Hero calls, button calls, blinds fold.

Flop ($67): JJ6

Villain bets $30, MP folds, Hero calls, button folds.

Turn ($127): 5

Villain checks, Hero bets $30, Villain calls.

River ($187): J

Villain checks, Hero bets $30, Villain raises to $130.

Hero's move?

Why because the bet on the river MAKES you fold? This looks so similar to my hand you're right yen. He did check and call your THIRTY on the turn right??? What are you putting him on now? You may be counterfeitted, but look how slowly he would have been playing his TT-77 if he had that. Wouldnt he reraise your weak turn bet to see if you had the Jack or not??????

I don't really understand the river bet. Not saying it's necessarily bad I'd just like to hear some of your reasoning for making it.

Bet $80 on the turn.

Check behind on the river.

The way you played it, you have to make a crying here on the end.

[/ QUOTE ]Call. Pay him off if he has you beat. Your pennance for not pushing hard before.

I had a similar hand. Had pocket 7s and the flop was AA7. I went all-in. I was a big favorite against the guy who had slick and had no choice but to call.

Sadly, he spiked a King on the river... But that didn't change whether my play was good.

On the turn I'm putting him on 77-AA (with KK & AA being more likely given the smooth call), any J, or unpaired overcards.

I think my biggest mistake was betting the river. At the time I guess I felt that his check was confirmation that he only had overcards, and I wanted to keep the bet small enough that a hand like AK might consider calling given the size of the pot. I ended up folding to the check-raise, and I'm still leaning towards thinking it was probably correct.
