Default Re: Another Firefox Vulnerability

Stating that Firefox is no more secure than IE doesn't make it true, not even if you're really really insistent about it.

This particular issue, not the first or last that will affect Firefox, requires that a site be allowed to install software. By default, this only includes updates.mozilla.org and addons.mozilla.org. If you were fooled into going to a site that was configured to take advantage of this exploit, you would still have to add them to your list of sites that you trust to install software.

If any site were allowed to do that by default, so you could put up the exploit and just trick people into visiting your page, that would be really bad. The sort of problem that should cause people to stop using your browser, even.

The sort of problem that affected IE in December: http://secunia.com/advisories/13482/

Default Fixed in Firefox 1.0.4

Your browser has probably already informed you that an update is available.

If not, get it here.
