Closest real poker to Colorado?

Colorado has poker, but it is a strange sort of poker because there is a state law that limits bets to $5.

What is the closest real poker to CO?

I thought it would be in Mesa, AZ, but I discovered to my amazement that Mesa is 850 miles away from Colorado Springs?! I'm hoping there is something much closer.

sandia casino in albuquerque. about 5 1/2 hours from the springs.

Albuquerque is home to "real" poker rooms for Sandia, Isleta, and other smaller rooms like Cities of Gold, Santa Ana Star. Sandia is the only room that consistently has a game going as far as I know

You pretty much can't play at Sandia without running into a handful of Colorado players on a road trip. In fact, when I went to Sandia I ended up at a table with 5 colorado players -- nothing like fresh meat... [img]/forums/images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

Use to live in Albuquerque....Sandia is the best cardroom in New Mexico. from 4-8 to Pot Limit are spread in Hold Em.. 1-5 for stud (Where I got my start) and a great 4-8 Omaha Hi Lo Game (usually 4 games going at once)

Sandia Casino north of Albuquerque is the place to go... they have Hold'em at $4/8, $10/20, $20/40, all half-kill games. $1-5 Stud and Stud8. $4/8 Omaha8 with a half-kill.

when i was there last summer, the 4/8 HE and Omaha games would go until early in the morning... the casino closes at 4AM during the week but it's open 24hrs a day on weekends.

the stud games and 4/8 hold 'em are generally pretty soft... except for the morning stud8 crew, yikes.

floor people and dealers are great. i've never had a problem or seen a situation handled badly there...

Isleta has a smaller room south of town, and last i heard they were spreading a $2-10 hold'em game along with $1-5 stud.

Santa Ana Star in Bernalillo has a 5 table room that doesn't see a lot of action as far as i know, but from looking at there website they might be trying to change that...

in the hold'em games once a player has one two pots in a row the limits go up by 1/2... for example in $4/8 the limit's would go to $6/12. the player who has won two pots in a row must "kill it" by posting a live $6 straddle. blinds are still $4 and $2 dollars but must be completed to $6 dollars in order to call... after the blinds have acted, the "kill" player can then act. it was a little confusing for me at first but you soon get used to it... a kill pot seems to come along once or twice an hour and attracts a lot of action.

in Omaha i think the half-kill comes into effect after scoops the pot with both the high and the low hand...

last summer the $4/8 Hold'em and Omaha would get going around noon and last until closing or until early in the morning (shorthanded after about 2AM, though). from about 4 or 5PM on there would be one or more "must move" tables for each game which would break up as players moved on to the main game...

$10/20 Hold'em would start up around 4PM with never more than one must move table... 10/20 always seemed to be finished around midnight or a little bit later.

$20/40 would start in the evening and sometimes last as long as 4/8... i don't think i've ever seen more than one 20/40 going at the same time.

at the time i was there, they also had a few players at a $50/100 table trading green chips with each other... didn't look like much fun.

You could go to Wendover, NV - on the Utah/Nevada stateline, about 120 miles due west from Salt Lake City.
