will pokertracker help out a newb
i have about 5,000 hands played. I'm getting crushed on Interpoker with lots of bad beats. I know this is a process and the losses aren't bothering me too much. I'm looking to get better and am curious if i should buy pokertracker now or wait till i get more experience playing. Also, how can pokertracker make me a better player?

Re: will pokertracker help out a newb
interpoker is really really tight. i don't recommend it for a newb.
but to your questions. PT'll help you see if you're playing too many hands, and maybe'll show you why some of those bad beats are just bad plays. it'll help you track accurately your win rate. it'll allow you to replay hands and sessions that gave you trouble, so that you might evaluate where you could've won more/lost less. it'll let you track your opponents so that you'll know whether you should be worried about his raises. i recommend you buy it immediately, and then start playing lower limits until you get a ton of hands in PT and you're confident you're winning at .25/.5 or lower. |

Re: will pokertracker help out a newb
Some would argue it becomes a crutch and doesn't help, but I highly recommend it. It made a big difference in my play for 3 major reasons:
1) I was able to track down marginal hands and compare them to the advice of 2+2'ers I trusted. Stats, etc. also fall into this category. 2) I was able to track and recognize other strong players I was up against as well as really weak ones. 3) Just knowing PT would never forget that dumb play I was about to make helped me to not tilt and to pull the trigger on raises and folds I knew were right but couldn't bring myself to do before. |

As a newb, I'd recommmend that you definitely get PT to analyze your play after sessions.
I would hold off from getting Gametime or Playerview until you can develop your skills so that those do not become a huge crutch. Do NOT multitable until you are very comfortable playing a single table. |
