Re: KT dangerous flop
I will answer my own questions
There was no raise preflop, so AK/KQ are less likely. Sure it's possible SB has AK and "tricked" us preflop. It is also possible he will lead with a decent jack, a flush draw, a straight draw, 72, 99, K7, 2 pair or a set. Calling would be the worst option with K3. Our hand is vulnerable and the board is coordinated. We can protect our hand now. By the time the third player calls behind us, gutshots are even getting good enough odds. Reasons to fold: Pot is small. Kicker problems. Reason to raise: There's a good chance we have the best hand. We will give poor odds to anyone behind us, either thinning the field or forcing the other players to draw without odds. Even if we are behind to another king, we may draw to a split (or suckout if a 3 comes). If one card 8 or higher falls on the turn or river we are splitting with K7 or worse. If the board pairs we are splitting with KT or worse. If we are ahead there is only 1 overcard to fear. This is much better than having 93 on a 972 board. |

Re: KT dangerous flop
Raise. First guy betting out could have a flush draw, pair of jacks or eights, a king with a crappier kicker; you need to raise so you can determine that. The raise may drive others out and isolate heads up with SB which would be ideal in this case.

? I just want to know if the advice is good or not. [/ QUOTE ] He could be the worst player on these boards for all I know but his advice is good so who cares? I totally agree that raise>call>fold is the correct order of choices on this hand. Oh and I suck! |

I am still not convinced raising with K3 could ever be EV+ here. Try to back that up. [/ QUOTE ] are you happier raising K3 or AJ? I'd raise all them as well. You've just been given a present - the opportunity to face the field with 2 bets. I'd take it. (and you might be winning too) |

Re: KT dangerous flop
Nice reply.
Just found an interesting number. It is about 55% that at least one player was dealt a K as well if the table is 10-handed. Damn that "More holdem excellence" book has really scared me. PLaying weak kickers is the devil according to that one. So now I agree with you. |

[ QUOTE ] How good are you? It's nice to know when someone is giving advice. [/ QUOTE ] Dude, don't be a dick. You posted a hand, and you're going to get replies. Some replies will be better than other. It's up to you to take the comments and think about them yourself, not blindly follow what the masses tell you. If you don't appreciate the commentary, don't post hands. Feel free to explain why you took what action you did, but... well, don't be a dick. [/ QUOTE ] Seconded. If you refuse to admit that you might have played this hand incorrectly, I'm sure everyone here would be better served by posting in other threads where useful advice will be heeded. |

Re: KT dangerous flop
I played it bad.
But we are talking about the K3. And I guess I should raise that one too. |

Re: KT dangerous flop
Without reading any of the responses, I would say raise to isolate and protect your hand.
