Re: Spewing?
He is calling with something, the best you can hope on the river is for a split pot. Sometimes at .50/1 players can win by bulldozing TP players with bets. But what happens more often then not, they are calling down with some sort of pair, 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or something and we are donating to their stack.

Re: Spewing?
Since you have no read on your opponent, I would check/call the river. Getting raised here sucks.

Re: Spewing?
What hands is he calling with on the turn that he's not calling on the river? I'd estimate that your chances of folding him on the turn are orders of magnitude larger than your chances of folding him on the river.
Betting the river is clearly wrong. No hand you beat is calling you, and no better hand (since he called the turn) is folding. The remaining options are (folding to any raise, naturally): (a) check/fold turn (b) bet turn, check/fold river (c) bet turn, check/call river (d) check/call turn, check/call river. I think (d) is pretty terrible, too. In order to pick between (a)-(c), you need to ask yourself if this is the kind of villain who will bet on either street without a club, and if he'll call without a club. Against a complete unknown, I think I choose (b), but (a) has its merits, too. |
