Being good at losing $$$ takes years of practice & dedication....And it is important that you lose money at many different activities....Losing $$$ gambling is the "core", of course, but you have to lose $$$ in the stock market, real estate, commodities, lending it to Friends/Relatives and, finally, chasing Puss.

What do you think is a good number for your bankroll to start really playing Step 5s, assuming you think you would be a winning player.

[/ QUOTE ]

100k

[/ QUOTE ]

IMO 100k is on the short side for a responsible/professional gambler. Yeah ok, losing 10% of your bankroll is no huge deal when you have 3k and are grinding away at the 33s, but when you lose 10% of it and you have 100k, it really stings. Add this to the fact that the 1k games are much tougher and I feel that it's just risky if you aren't the kind of person who can take losing a large sum of money well.

Once you have like 250-300k, then losing 10-20k should sting quite a bit less.

[/ QUOTE ]

Godd point. I was thinking more along the lines of someone who plays step 5 minis and regular step 5s not step 4 highers.

Good.

I don't know you, but if I had to guess it's not really the money that bugs you. And I've swung a lot more than $12k, so I know what that it is like; for me anyway.

like curtains said. it wont hurt one bit running bad when you have a 300k roll to work with on those step 5s. lose 10k a day and you will be like, meh, get em back tomororw, no big. the hurt comes from the money having a direct impact on yer life, or a special meaning. money lost most of its meaning to me a while ago, which isnt a terrible thing for a poker player. just about the only thing you can do for now is increase yer bankroll. holla

I found that when I stopped caring about losing money, I stopped doing it altogether. Weird.

Yeah when I was living with my dad still I'd come home from the casino at the same time he was heading out to go to work.
