Send me a PM; I'll take your contact info and arrange to hear you out.

I'm not as convinced as some are that it's a scam; sh-t does happen and it usually does when we are least prepared.

To all those who are sure this is a con . . .

Do all of you have wallets that won't close due either to the half inch of cash or the half dozen Gold-Cards you tote around with you ?

This is NOT a slap at those who are suspicious; I'll admit this is - to say the least - a little, um, "questionable".

I was warned recently not to discuss poker here at OOT and I hope this does not qualify but -

One of the skills necessary to excel (or even compete) is the ability to climb into the other guy's head.

I do not author posts entitled "Brother, can you spare a dime" but one would hope at my age (mid 40s) I would not need to.

It's more or less common knowledge that a disproportionate number of posters here are in school or are of school age.

If those that fit this description are all financially independent I salute you; I am neither proud nor ashamed of the fact that I was quite dependent until the second half of my 20s - well into the second half.

If those of you who proudly produce your parents' CCs when catastrophes occur are unable to even IMAGINE that some people don't have that option it's unfortunate - in this instance for our OP but for you as well.

I'm loathe to compare this person's problems to those of anyone else; it has taken me many years to learn that problems do not exist on a spectrum; one man's inconvenience is another's calamity. One of my [more affluent] neighbors is currently stewing because his $90,000 car suffered some slight damage when a branch fell from a tree; he got really pissed when he found out he alone was liable for the [under $2,000] repair. His deductable is probably higher than the bill so it will be an out of pocket expense for the poor unfortunate man. My heart goes out to him; the mishap caused him to be late for an out of town business meeting which I hear resulted in in his private jet being bounced from first to last in the take-off queue. (Sniff)

I too am having a rough go of things at the present time; I just found out that my new apartment building, that would be the one with the paid off mortage, might need a new roof. I have no idea why that bitch of an aunt of mine didn't take care of this before willing me the property. And if that's not bad enough I just found out the law prohibits me from raising the rent for any of its elderly tenants; oh well, I'll just tighten my belt and try to get by on the $6,000/month it brings in rent AFTER expenses. (Maybe I can cut down on their heat; let the whiny little geezers wear sweaters; better yet let them all move to Florida).

To repeat, I am not convinced beyond any doubt that this poster is a straight shooter and I am not going to spend $1,200 or $700 to find out.

I will however, hear him out, maybe be able to suggest an alternative, and if he sounds credible I may go a hundred or two toward helping him - if he transfers first.

If it's a scam it's a scam, but having had the shoe on the other foot on a number of occasions - and having been assisted by people with whom I had relationships but was hardly close - I'll take a flier for the price of a nice dinner out.

To those mentioned above who cannot fathom ever having to do something like post here and ask for help . . .

Which of these two events are more likely to occur ?

- I understand both might be longshots but which is the less likely to ever occur.

1. You someday find yourself in a situation - not life/death but of some importance - which causes you to ask a total stranger (or group of strangers) to help you ?

2. You decide you could use some extra money and in order to get it create a phantom 2+2 account and post a request for help in an effort to run a scam on our little community ?

By the way . . . (rhetorical question as it won't affect my decision but I am curious)

When you transfer money on STARS you get a popup stating "[sic] management must approve this transfer". This being the case am I not 100% indemnified ?

If the transfer is approved BY THEM, are they going to later come to me and ask for the money if it turns out this is a CC scam or some such similar bit of chicanery ?

Oh well, I guess I'll find out.

*

Best wishes to all -

- Chris

hello, basically the situation is that my grandfather (who does not live in the US) passed away and I am leaving in less than 12 hours to go to Venezuela for the funeral and i thought i had enough $$ in my bank account but would like to get more, cashing out through poker accounts will nott get cash into my neteller account fast enough for me to withdraw it to my bank, so i am imporinga anyone with $700-$1200 (or more) on neteller to please allow me to send them an amount between there on pokerstars and have them transfer that amount to me on neteller so that i can withdraw that money to my bank immediately and get it in my account. I don't know if these kind of posts are allowed or whether this is the area for them, but i am in a dilemma and would appreciate any help, please respond here and i can give u my AIM name so we can do it over on AIM. thanks.

People, don't let this happen to you. Apply now, for a newfangled item called a "credit card," so that when emergencies strike, you'll be ready!

I think OP's post is on the level. However, WT is correct in that it's the interbank transfers that take time, not the PS transfer to Neteller. I'd advise OP to make the cashout if he hasn't already done so and then get to his family as soon as he can.

People think you're scamming because you have all of 6 posts. If it's that urgent, your other family will help you I'm sure.

What's wrong with asking a bunch of shifty, anonymous poker players to transfer money for you rather than ask your family for help? I think you're too negative.

Stars won't wire money? I know some sportsbooks will.

...not to mention that using one responsibly each month will do wonders for your credit rating.

What's wrong with calling the poker people or the Neteller people and explaining the situation?

Furthermore, why did you wait till you only had 12 hours?

And why should we trust someone with 8 posts? I don't think anyone even knows who I am and I have something over 400.

You are selling yourself short. You are a girl that likes fast red cars and whose frequent loud sex is bothering her uptight neighbor.
