Default Re: Lebron James is the Best Player in the NBA

Compare Lebron age 19 to KG age 19. It's not even close.

A pretty simple and telling stat. After thier first 100 games, the only players to average above 20, 5, and 5:
Oscar
MJ
Grant Hill (who knows what his potential was)
Lebron

Pretty nice list.

Also, in crunch time, it is much more difficult for a big man to create and get an open shot or take over a game. Being albe to shoot free throws in situations like this are huge.

Don't get me wrong, I love KG and think he is one of the best players ever, however, Lebron is just amazing.

Blanket statements like "All-Star guards are easy to come by, big men are not" shouldn't apply to LeBron. It implies that's being molded as a future lone gunman along the lines of an A.I., T-Mac, or Kobe and he's not.

What do big men do? They take high percentage shots and give you offensive efficiency. Thats what guards in the league can't do, they chuck shots instead and go 5-12, 4-13, 9-23, etc. LeBron is hitting at a phenomenal 50% clip despite taking many shots per game.

Another telling stat is consecutive seasons averaging 20/10/5. KG's at like, 6? 7? I lost count. Only Bird has as many as he does. Will Lebron put up numbers like that consistently? Maybe. But we already KNOW Garnett is doing it. And it's not like he's old (28). Not to mention the most unselfish star in the league and a proven leader.

I hear your Lebron arguements. He has convinced me this season. But it ain't stupid to choose KG to start a new team right now.

"Not to mention the most unselfish star in the league and a proven leader."

Your unselfish star and proven leader took 7 years to win his first playoff series. While he occasionally dominates games he has not yet been able to turn it on in clutch time the way that the "great" players do.

Besides, Lebron will sell more merchandise.

his turnaround fadeaway jumpshot from the baseline with tongue hanging out as time expired on thursday night at detroit was eerily similar to the other '23'

lebron is the truth, and is a superstar, but he's not the best right now...your question about who would i start a team with can be answered independantly of staking a claim of who is the best player - of course i'd take lebron because of his age and his upside

If you think he only "occasionally" dominates games, you need to watch more Wolves games. That is just silly.

Rd 2, game 7 last year: 32 pts, 21 reb, 5 blocks, 4 steals, scored 13 of the team's first 15 pts in the 4th quarter.

End of "doesn't show up in the clutch" nonsense.

Regular season means virtualy nothing when discussing who you want to build your team around. You picked up 1 example from a series that should never have gone 7 games in the first place.

I disagree, I don't see anyone taking Robert Horry or Bruce Bowen.

I don't think I said anything about regular season, but I completely disagree anyway.

You picked up 1 example from a series that should never have gone 7 games in the first place.

I don't even know what that means or why it matters how it got to 7 games. I picked an example which happens to be one of the most dominant postseason performances in recent years.

You said regular season doesn't matter, and then you said the playoff example doesn't count. That doesn't sound like a reasonable argument.

And regarding who to choose to build a franchise - I have not even said that Lebron is the wrong choice. I have only said that it's not "stupid" to consider someone other than him.

Let me rephrase-
When comparing the top 10 NBA players thier preformances During the season would get them into the top 10- but it would be their post season numbers that would mostly affected how thy feel within those 10- it is because of his postseason performances that i would drop KG into the 4 or 6 slot of best in the NBA. I don't want to sound like hes a chump, i just think there are at least three other players who i would take- and up to 5 by the time a couple of the others hit thier first or second playoff run.
