Serious Post-The 2nd Amendment
Is there a good gun law post out there? I was at my local gun shop today thinking of getting another piece for home protection when I overheard some rednecks and street thugs talking about the guns like they were toys. I'm looking for a really good reason to own a gun right now.
Thanks, Indy |

First - sorry to see the wrath of [censored] came down on you.
Why were you looking for more protection? What am I missing here? My picture of you is not someone who's actually afraid of rednecks and street thugs. |

Re: Serious Post-The 2nd Amendment
Nah I'm not that afraid of necks/thugs, but even as a republican I'm afraid of these guys getting guns so easy here in Indiana. My house was recently broken into, plus I like target shooting at the local range, so I wanna upgrade the little Berretta to a Glock 9. Still, I keep asking myself if I even need a gun...I find it shocking that you can just walk into a shop and get a gun with no permit and no training.

Re: Serious Post-The 2nd Amendment
OK, understand now. If you like the Glock, get it. My LEA friends mostly all swear by Glock (in various mods).
Indiana gun laws sound either too soft or, as is usually the case, they're not being enforced. In either case, Indiana leges really need to get their lazy butts in gear. |

Re: Serious Post-The 2nd Amendment
Yah this is true. I think some people having guns is fine, but just anybody? Over in Ohio u gots ta do training and stuff first. So, any good gun rights posts out here? I've failed with the search function. And, oh yeah, [censored] is uncool for banning me but what can I do? I'm not going to go crying and betting Mat to override it. Its not that important to post in OOT anyway.

Glocks Are OK........But get a..............
revolver.
With a Glock, if you don't fire it with a strong wrist the shells can "stovepipe" on you (aka the gun jams). If you're in a gunfight for your life you can't depend on perfect form. The solution is use a revolver for self-protection. There is no safety and revolvers are VERY reliable. If you are caught by surprise, the time to switch the safety on your semi-auto could mean you get shot first. With a revolver it is just point and shoot. As for getting a gun, the founding fathers of the USA believed in an inherent right to self-defense. A gun in the hands of a 90lb 80yr old woman is a great equalizer when facing a 6'6" 300lb thug looking to do violence on her. If a person is a law abiding citizen who has never used a gun in a crime THEN it should be easy for them to get a gun. If a person has a history of violence using weapons then they should not be allowed to own a gun. End-of-story. |
