Fish at high stakes games
I have never played any limit above 3/6 and I have a question for those who have played limits much higher. In high stakes games such as 100/200 or 1000/2000 or even middle limit games like 30/60, where do the fish come from? Who is going to sit at these limits that is not a winning player? Clearly not every one playing at this limits is a winning player, so what are people thinking that sit at these limits and routinely lose? Are these people just so rich that they don't care?

[/ QUOTE ] You've answered part of your question. Some of these people are rich enough where the money doesn't matter. Another type of people are the people that just like to gamble and small stakes (1/2-5/10) do not intrest them. And the last group of these people are the people that have won a large amount of money in tournaments and want to try out the mid-high stakes of the cash games. In general, these people do not care for their bankroll. |

Re: Fish at high stakes games
There are also those who have won a lot at lower limits, and moved up to a level they cannot beat yet. I'm sure there are some of these whose ego will not let them drop back down.

Re: Fish at high stakes games
There's probably lots of players at the mid limits who think they are good enough to beat the game, despite how much they lose or continue to lose. Most poker players think that they are winners.

Re: Fish at high stakes games
At the borgata this weekend there was a 150-300 game running where one player was raising and capping every street almost every hand some of them blind, he was the biggest fish i have ever seen in any game anytime, i mean this is not the norm but there are people like this who have soo much money that there is almost no limit that makes a difference to them. THese people, and the rishish ego tripping pros and tourney players are the fish.

Re: Fish at high stakes games
At my local casino, there are many, many uberfish at the 15/30 games. Mostly local businesspeople, doctors, and lawyers who could care less about a rack of red, just wanna have fun gambooling. Wish I had the roll to play in those games.

Re: Fish at high stakes games
generally there's a scale
at one end are people who are pros and tough and to them this is a fair amount of money and the other end there are people so rich or so ready to gamble that the money means absolutely nothing to them. players on all ends of the scale |
