Re: Someone asked what my cards were
I give them a big smile and say some version of "you have to pay to find that out ". But then, I am a middle aged woman who is generally pretty friendly at the table, so it might not go over well for everyone. So far, every response has been something like, "You're absolutly right!"

Re: Great way to handle the situation!
That's a GREAT way to handle it. You get information from them, you remain friendly, and you don't give anything away.

[ QUOTE ]
in a friendly happy buddy buddy way "what did you think i had?!?!?", whatever their answer, you always reply "of course!!" (in a way that makes it sound like "what else could i have had" -- mostsmooth [/ QUOTE ] That's a GREAT way to handle it. You get information from them, you remain friendly, and you don't give anything away. Then if they don't want to answer, you can give one of the other suggested replies, e.g., "Okay, I had Jacks." |

Re: Someone asked what my cards were
Nobody has ever asked to see my hand, but if they did, I'm just waiting to tell them I had a Pee Wee Herman.

Re: Someone asked what my cards were
tell him what you want him to believe. If you were bluffing, tell him you had a monster. If you had a monster, tell him you had a weak hand.
Or If he is a player who folds too much in general, tell him you had the nuts. If he is a player who usually calls too much, tell him you were bluffing. The idea is to magnify whatever mistakes your opponent is making. Telling him "Sorry John. I don't remember" or "you gotta pay to see" makes you look like a stupid, arrogant kid. |
