I don't think it's a Clarkmeister situation because only the A and K of spades will beat you and you will not get them to fold. A bet is possible here to try to draw an extra bet out of a lower spade, but I kind of like the way it was played.

I think it is a Clarkmeister situation because you can get a call out of a strong hand without a spade and certainly from a lower spade.

I'm probably wrong. I thought it was when you didn't have anything and you were trying to get a better non-spade hand to fold. I haven't looked at it in a long time though. Regardless though, betting the river probably is the right play for the reasons you mentioned.

When you're betting the river on a 4flush board HU, the primary reason you're doing it is not to get better hands to fold. Typically, better hands won't fold. The deuce of trump will usually call. A set will usually call. Hell, bottom pair will sometimes call, "because they had to know." You're betting the river for value. You bet because you don't want a worse hand to check behind. Additionally, hands like sets and two pair have an awfully hard time raising your bet. Even the deuce of trump will have a hard time raising your bet. You get to see the river for the same one bet it'd cost to check/call, and you don't let the other guy check behind. Very seldom in full ring micros games do you ever get a hand better than whatever you're holding to fold.

If he does raise you, well, you've got a decision to make. How big is the pot? Does this guy bluff? Would he raise if he just spiked 2 pair? It's not easy, but you can make the right decsion.
