Health and EV
Just wondering how much EV you think you lose by having a major health condition? I know I have a hard time sitting for extended peroids of time, and take a fairly substantial dose of narcotic pain medication as well as other things daily.
I am still a winning player and do quite well, I do notice that my brain isnt quite what it used to be (suspect from all the medications, etc) and it takes me a bit longer to do all the math, where before it was almost without thinking. Anyway just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation and how do you think it affects your play? Anythings you do that makes it a little easier on you? |

Re: Health and EV
I lost my entire bankroll under the influence of marijuana
and i've lost a major percentage under the influence of alcohol alcohol makes you overconfident and marijuana makes you clumsy and also makes you do things you normally wouldn't because you don't think into things as much i swore to never play poker under the influence of anything ever again |

Re: Health and EV
Well the good thing is I am used to taking the narcotics so I do not get any buzz at all from them anymore.

Re: Health and EV
Well if you have smoked that much pot that you no longer get even a buzz from them I would have to take a guess and say that is -EV. Can't be too good for the brain.

Re: Health and EV
I treat poker like driving.
Obviously hinting at "dont drink and drive"; Don't X and play. Replace X with: 1) drink 2) be tired/sleepy/sick/distracted/angry/sad/too happy You might ask... too happy? I remember not being able to control my excitement the first time I won a $100+ pot, I lost every single dollar I made from that pot in the following minutes -- over happiness is dangerous for poker I don't smoke pot/do drugs, so I don't have a rule for those, but I think the answer is quite obvious. |
