Default Which computer should I buy for poker?

I originally posted this in the tech support forum, but no one really reads that unless they have a question themselves. I figured most of you would know a good deal about computers, so here it goes:

Hi, I am looking to get a decent poker computer as I am running on a laptop right now. Basically, I want a decent processor, 1gb of ram, and a video card that can do 2 monitors at 1600x1200 res. These are the best 2 deals I can find:

This one needs a ram upgrade but thats cheap, and it has a Pci express ugradeable slot.

This one has enough ram, but I have no idea what kind of video card I can put in there.

Thanks, and any input is helpful.

Both are ok although you will probably want to upgrade ram on both. However, I always have to say, have you considered building your computer. You will save money, get exactly what you want, and its pretty easy.

I think 1gb of ram would be enough. Anyways, I could never myself build a computer. I looked into it with a friend who said he'd do it, but building that computer would be more costly than just buying it.

Wow, CompUSA sells this bad baby? Rad. Looks like my roll is going to take a hit for this upgrade. I hope this doesn't make Joe, the name of my Commodore 64, mad or jealous.

I'm a computer dork, but it's not actually that hard. All it takes is a philips screw driver and figuring out what parts you need/want. It'll save you a couple of bucks. I'm sure a good buddy will do it for ya if you buy him a pizza or something.

Quick list of things needed not including your monitor:
1. Case
2. Hard Drive
3. RAM
4. Video card (might be smart to get a card with two video outputs so you can add another screen now or later)
5. Operating System (Microsquash XP Home should suffice.)
6. Motherboard

You can take out your floppy drive and use it on the new computer, if you actually use it. I don't know why, but I always have a 3.5 inch floppy drive in my computers, but use it like never.

I actually got an older, less cool version for poker only. EMachines T3882
-Intel Celeron 335D
-80 GB harddrive
-256 MB ram

I purchased an nvidia quattro video card for dual-monitoring off eBay for less than $20 including shipping. Easy to put into a PCI slot and just had to change the bios from
AtI and took 30 minutes total set-up.

Upgraded by buying some RAM from Kbyte (1 GIG) that was less than $50 after a mail-in rebate.

I have no problems running plenty of tables. Hell, I run 6 at pokerroom skins, which are resource intensive, with pokertracker and pokerace. No problem running 10 party tables with multi-table helper, pokertracker, and pokerace.

I'd say those computers are fine with appropriate upgrades/ purchases.

This is also a good idea. Yeah sure, being able to play Doom 19 would be cool, but the machine is just going to be used for poker and porn, right?
