Default Small mistake in Getting Started.

p.29 "Identifying the Nuts"

Hand 1: K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Answer in book: "Eight high straight - 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]"

Should be "Jack high straight - Tx9x"

Or the J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] should be a Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Ugh. Thank you. That sucks. Obviously we will fix it ASAP.

Damn those quizzes are hard to proofread. I must have looked at that problem like ten times and found nothing wrong with it.

I also find it ironic that it appears in the section about finding the nuts. How many times have I done this mistake in a live game?

I wont mention the spelling mistake on the bottom of p. 63! ("appropriare")

But the book is excellent, I chewed through the limit section and am rereading the section again. Even though I've read SSH once and reread some sections many times, I still gained value from GSIH.

I briefly looked at the NL section, it looked great and I cant wait for your dedicated book on the subject.

That was the wrong section to make a mistake like that in.

I believe it. When you look at things like this multiple times, you think you know the answer immediately because you remember it.

In order to proof-read accurately, you need to put your writing aside long enough so that you practically forget what you've written.

Ya, it's a bad place for an error. But if I got to choose where my errors were, I'd choose nowhere. I went over those problems a lot because I knew they would be tricky to proofread, and I caught several errors. I guess I just missed this one.

Fortunately, at least it's an error that even a novice reader should, with a little thought, be able to identify as clearly an error.

True.

I mean, if you have to make an error, besides a spelling error this is probably one of the more minor ones.

It's not like someone's gonna be in a hand and think back and be like, "Okay this is the exact hand in Getting Started, and the flop is KJ874 and flush isn't in, then 56 must be the nuts!"

"What, I got beat by T9??? DAMN YOU MILLER!!!"

A mistake with theory would be a real killer, but this one's actually pretty minor. It's still unfortunate, but it could be worse. Could be raining...

At least there was no faulty math in that example, using the wrong cards as the foundation
