Online tell?
Middle of a multi-table tourney online. I've got a decent stack (about 25 big blinds) and I make a decent preflop raise with TT on the button (after folded to me). The big blind goes all-in (has me barely covered).
So I sit and think for a moment, and the big blind types in "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ". I had only been thinking about 10 seconds (not even used my think tank yet). What do you think the "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" meant? I read it as he was impatient. He wanted to hurry up and play his big hand. So I folded. Any thoughts? |

Re: Online tell?
If you have played against this player before (other tourney or ring game) than perhaps a lay down is in order. Don't read the postings during the hand and go with your gut felling.

Re: Online tell?
Ignore what your opponent is foolish enough to type, giving you one more thing to help your read? You may want to rethink that.

Re: Online tell?
I'd like to hear other viewpoints, but from my experience, someone who acts antagonistic usually has a hand.

Re: Online tell?
I think the key here is - has he been doing this often?
There are some guys - who like to play a warp speed, and will do this anytime action slows. If that's the case, i wouldn't read into it. If He has not been much of a talker, or a "prodder" I would fold here. I might try this next time I make a move - see what it does. |

Re: Online tell?
Don't read anything into the player who is "falling asleep" when you take 5-10 seconds to think. Online play conditions the young folk, who have been raised on video games, to operate with attention span of a gnat.

Re: Online tell?
I saw something similar recently in a big field MTT. I don't remember details of the bets, but the blinds were big and 2 saw the flop. Flop comes T74r. Player A goes all in. Player B is thinking for a while, during which Player A types "I'll show ya". B folds, A shows AT.
This would definitely affect my play, but I also thought what a great thing to type if you were on a bluff. Might see how the cajones hold up and try it some time. |

He's nervous and wants you to fold.

Re: Online tell?
you could also take it as he is an unsophisticated player who doesnt think much, and you are taking to long. In most cases it would boil down to a read and what type of player he is, but thats another way to take this kind of behavior.
