Default Getting HUD software banned on Party

I would really like to see PokerAce, PV, Gametime+ etc banned. I think they give an unfair advantage to otherwise poor players. They also make the game less like a real life, human to human game which is what Party have stated they intend to achieve.

Any thoughts on how to get these programs banned? Anyone willing to sign a petition or do an email campaign?

A couple of different points --

1) You're not likely to find too terribly much sympathy around here; if I were to guess, I'd say that the majority of Zooers use HUDs. Possibly the vast majority.

2) You seem to want a game that's more like playing live. In that case, why not go play live? Online poker's a different beast, despite what you claim Party has stated -- I've never seen $0.02/$0.04 spread in a casino, I've never seen 70,000 players in a single casino, I don't typically see SnGs with a 50/30/20 payout structure in casinos, and there's only been one occasion on which I've seen someone "multitabling" live.

3) The sites themselves have effectively tacitly endorced the HUDs by their (in)actions. With Prophecy and Edge, they were around for a few months and then the bannings began; with HUDs, they've been around for years now and no such actions are occurring. Trying to ban them now (now that they're effectively part of the "standard toolset") could possibly be even more unpopular than doubling the rake like PokerRoom did.

Of course, the corollary to point 3 is that us online poker players are (by and large) lazy, and even PokerRoom still has a fair amount of traffic... so, yeah, it could work.

My personal take is that I use HUDs, but I wouldn't be particularly distraught if they went away. I won't sign your petition or whatever (and I'll likely be sitting on the sidelines chuckling at your attempts), but I won't sign an "anti-petition", either.

Perhaps you should go ahead and tackle this whole cashout curse first.

I've been noticing this for a while (i.e. the 'cashout curse'), and I thought, no way, this has to be BS. Well, it's not.

I did an analysis of all my cashouts, EVERY SINGLE TIME I cashout I get crappy cards and second best hands time after time after time. It's unreal. Most times I lose 1/2 my bankroll, sometimes I lose it all and have to re deposit. It's worst when I have a lot of money left.

Lately I've been withdrawing every time I make $50. I keep the minimum in ($100), every time I make $50, out to neteller. It's just a few mouse clicks. Well, I've been doing it for a few weeks now, it's working a treat. My win rate is right where it should be, and I no longer get bad cards. I think somewhere in the software there's a thing that says if you don't have much money left, they don't give you a bad run (maybe they don't want you leaving altogether?? - I don't know).

So anyway, my advice is: Every time you make $50 profit, cash it out. DO IT EVERY TIME. Don't let these bastards screw you around, man. I learnt the hard way.

Wow nice detective work. That was a joke post response to a lame recurring theme...in case it wasn't obvious.

In a certain sense, the HUDS like GT+ make online poker more like real life.

In live poker, you have actual physical players with you, and memories stick better to actual people with faces and voices and such. Online, you have serious trouble getting memories to stick to "JTL1028" and "Bobtacoma12". So pokertracker and the HUDS make up for what you are missing by not having something for memories to stick to, by not having the tells and such that you get by watching people live.

Interesting comment, never thought of it like that. However:

1. This gives a specific advantage to people who have purchased the software (Pokertracker) and not to other players.
2. You get very specific statistics as well a computer aided autorate function (player icons).
3. Many players datamine which is hardly different to Pokeredge (now banned software).
4. There is already a notes function.
