What to do when they love to call...
The Party 2-4 is very, very, very good. There are many players eager to call, which means knock out raises are rarely worthwhile. But where you can make alot of money is value betting the river -- because these callers won't raise even when they have you narrowly beaten. I bet the river, was called and won with eights up. I bet the river and lost with queens up -- the other guy had kings up, but just check called. The river in this game is where your superior hand reading skills and their passivity can really make you alot of money.

What is the ante, bring-in structure in this game?

.25, $1
The 3-6, with a .50 ante, is a very different game -- also very good. But for some reason, right now, the 2-4 is just insanely good. |

Re: What to do when they love to call...
Sounds like a decent game...maybe the low games are picking up bc some of the fish watched the WSOP event on the other night. As for the big games, I'm sticking to 80% 20-40 or 30-60 Hold Em, 10% 15-30 Omaha8 and 10% stud. If they changed the structure of the bigger stud games, I'd probably play more stud. For now, most of my stud play is in Jersey. The hold em action is just much better for mid limits online right now.

Re: What to do when they love to call...
MRBAA, Its like you've said all along in these games. Raise when you think you've got the best hand/edge. Don't raise to knock people out.
I say, bluff less, call more, don't give your opponents credit for a hand unless its obvious. |

Re: What to do when they love to call...
Notice you've been playing some 3-6 of late. Consider dropping down to 2-4 -- I've found the games way better recently. And alot of the (bad) players seem to like to play head up or short -- which is ridiculously profitable.

Re: What to do when they love to call...
Roland's been playing 4 tables of 2/4.
I do play some 2/4, and after some rough times, I will be forced to be there for some time now. I prefer the 3/6 mainly because of the structure. I love limping in for $1, pairing my door card, double betting, and getting called in 2 places! I'll take your advice though, see you at the 2/4's! I'm actually a terrible heads up/short handed player. I'm too tight and refuse to loosen up. |

Re: What to do when they love to call...
I've been playing a lot of the 20/40 O/8 games when they look good. Why do you like the 15/30s?

Re: What to do when they love to call...
1) Easier to get into a game
2) Frequently better than 20-40 (in my experience) 3) I don't consider myself spectacular at Omaha8, like it as a nice hold em changeup on occasion and am in no rush to play the biggest games (though I did play heads up 80-160 Omaha8 on UB during an extreme judgement lapse). And the 80-160 Hold Em game I'm a semi regular at in AC is often converted to half and half with Omaha. But that game is so good, it's truly truly unbelievable. Like Q-10-7-3 for two cold good. Re: What to do when they love to call...
I've noticed that in the morning, the pots are even propotionately quite a bit larger at 20/40 O/8. I think later in the day the leather asses all get in the game and it's quite a bit tighter (the same happens in the 20/40 stud, I've talked about before).
