Your glaring inabllity to recognize obvious satire is staggering. I'm not calling you an idiot mind you - however it would be accurate to characterize your thinking as excessively concrete.

What part of the satire did I miss? The part where you claim, in another thread, to have reported Arnfinn Madsen to the authorities?

Nice try at back pedalling. Watch it so you don't hurt yourself.

It's posts like this that make everyone hate Americans. Can't say I blame them either.

It is the density of American politicians like him that thinks that America can get its way around the world using force and fear that makes America that unpopular. It does not work though, American influence in the hearts and minds of global citizens detoriate and thus American influence naturally detoriates too. The military does not have the capacity to counter this loss of influence since it is so huge.

Of course. It doesn't surprise me that an enlightened soul like yourself would find anti-American bigotry perfectly acceptable - like many other "enlightened" people in the world who deplore racism and bigotry, unless of course it is directed at Americans, in which case it is acceptable and understandable.

Perhaps this post of mine in another thread earlier will clear up some of the controversies re my motives and intent in my posts.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...mp;o=&vc=1

Essentially, in this post I stress that the broad problem we are discussing (which is in essence violent polarization, e.g. the West vs. Islam, Israeli vs. Palestinian, Liberal vs. Conservative, American vs. anti-American) is a *human* problem. I start from the premise that we are all human, and share the same rational virtues and irrational tendencies.

The cyclically reinforcing nature of this polarization involves the projection of our "shadow" onto the other, causing an action (e.g. 9/11) results in a reaction (e.g. the invasion of Iraq, Abu Graeb) which justifies and reinforces the original distorted attributions. This is the psychological dynamic behind the painfully repetitive cycles of violence endured through history. As an aside, I hope this doesn't spawn a "who did what first" thread, as such debates are entirely meaningless in this context, even if one wishes to go back to Adam.

If one were truly objective, one would be horrified at the rising tide of islamic terror in the world, with its repressive, violent, and nihilistic aims. One may also be alarmed at the sharp increase in American militarism, continuing cultural hegemony, excessive materialism etc.

But the point is that one *can* make a value judgement here - and my point in short is that terrorism is the force which will unleash the heretofore moderately repressed elements of our human natures best left repressed, with disastrous consequences for *all* of humanity.

And it is interesting to see how the dynamics described above on the world scene are played out in microcosm on this board.

My appreciation to those who understood the serious points I was trying to make in an illustrative and entertaining way, however poorly executed they may have been.

Thanks mmmmm.

As you know, many posters on ot-politics are posting material supporting, encouraging, and expressing sympathy for islamic and palestinian terrorism.

I will be happy to provide you with my research on relevant legislation in the US (e.g. Sedition Act, Patriot Act) and the EU (e.g. pending legislation criminalizing expressions of support and sympathy for terrorism).

Together, I am sure we can adequately police and sanitize these threads of any objectionable content.

And let me be among the first to thank you and congratulate you for your efforts in this regard.

So you want help from the moderator to keep your believe that the War on Terror is a black/white-issue. Either you support it and then you stand by President Bush in everything or you oppose it and then you disagree with him on everything.

FYI, I quoted my post here on a café in a discussion about freedom of speech and that it might have been illegal to express it by a US citizen according to your interpretation of the Patriot Act. From a mixed crowd the reactions were mainly this: "I too think the attack is legitimate" (which was a derailment of the subject) and "How can a country see itself as a democracy if individuals are not allowed to express that the government has ended up on the morally wrong side of a conflict and that they support the other side?"

I can add for myself, if there had been a Patriot Act interpreted as you see it during slavery, probably slavery would never have been abolished since everyone expressing that it should be abolished would be imprisoned (enemy of the white state seeing that blacks have value). Give it a thought, your government supports abuses conducted by other countries, it is a reason to speak up, not to defend it.

"encouraging conduct that would constitute a criminal offense"

Does this mean I'm not allowed to tell people they should smoke P.O.T.?

These rules suck. Are rules not set in place to be broken?
