Winholdem is a poker bot in its infancy. It's somewhat technical and for best results requires additional programming by the user. Its not very good right now, but there is substantial proof that it works.

If there is substantial proof that it works, why not show it and end the argument?

It works doesn't mean it wins.

It works - it doesn't win with the default ruleset.

In saying works he is implying that it is succesful, even moderately.

If he simply meant to imply it was a functional program, thats different, but who really cares.

Also, didn't Party attempt to outlaw Winholdem? Was it not succesful?

And proof is documentation, facts, etc, not just stating so...

It appears to be an arms race between Party and the cheaters. Party figured out how to spot the original version, and blocked anyone from playing while it was running. The cheaters then figured out how to change the window title to fool the Party client. Then, I gather, Party figured out how to spot it anyway. Now the cheaters have come up with some kind of workaround going through a website, and although a few people have said they've had their accounts closed and balances seized after using it, others are saying that they must have misconfigured it.

Anyway, Party can ban it and try to block it, but that doesn't mean that some people aren't getting past their defenses.

As to whether it works as it claims, what I hear is that people have come up with rulesets that do win steadily, but I haven't verified this, and don't know how to do so without joining the cheaters, which I refuse to do.

There's a thread in the General Texas Hold'em forum with about 200 replies and 15,000 page views all about WinHoldem. Go there for your proof.
