Default Man...did I mess this one up....

Full Table 3/6 at UB

I'm on the button and dealt:

Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

The curser is poised over the call button....but three people in front of me call.

And two of them happen to be very solid winning players with VPIPs between 10 and 20%. And...the two guys in the blinds to my left are the loose raisers.

So, when both of them come in...I switch to the fold button.

It was a BIG mistake from a results point of view (the flop was Q J J) but that is not my question.

Is this hand strong enough to limp with against at least one VERY likely A 2 (probably A 2 5 or better) and the likely raise behind me?

Thanks,

Dave

I'd say yes but I'm still learning the game. You've got a high pair, suited cards, and cards that can make a lo hand.

A3Q would be a nice flop!

I'd only play this hand if it was double suited. Even then it would still probably be somewhat marginal due to the conditions you described.

Just develop a knack for forgetting your hand once you fold it.

I don't think it's very playable personally.

Of the six hands it has:

QQ, need a Q to flop, okay. But trips are still usually scary. Mediocore high if you hit.

Q2/Q4/Q2/Q4 - worthless

24s - bad flush, decent low if you hit an ace, otherwise, worthless.

This hand looks pretty poor to me.

I'd say it was on the far side of close IF you had a couple more players.

Most point count systems have it as a no play. I would have folded, but . . . .I'm not a winning player . .YET! Although I'd like to think I am but it's not happening yet!

Hold'm is still my bread and butter.

Nice low but the high needs work, personally I'd prefer a flop of

A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Check it.

with a turn of any other A and hope my opponent hits a boat.

I'd probably muck the hand though I tend to be pretty loose if I can limp from the button in with no LAG in the blinds.

For the low, the problem with the hand is you need to at least A for a playable low and an A3 for a nut low. For a low, I'll play A2, A3, 23 because each of these only needs 1 card for a nut low.

For a high, not much here as you have QQ but neither are suited. Only playable if a Q flops for top set and even then you have no real redraws. The flop that you saw was 1 of the few flops you'd want with this hand. If 1 of the Qs were suited, you'd have a lot more potential because if an A of that suit flopped along with another of that suit; you'd have a definite scoop potential.

I would say no. There aren't enough flops that make you happy.

If you made the 4 a 3 I would think about it but I would still probibily fold.
