Default Make this call?

This just happened in tonight's super tournament. I've been getting most of my good hands in LP when its folded to me, so its looked like I've stolen a lot. Is this an easy call with only one overcard? An easy fold with the A out there?

You are probably behind here, but I'd call as this large bet may be a small stack just trying to take down the pot with a pocket pair of his own or a flush draw. In any case, it doesn't hurt you if you lose, and you show that you are willing to take chances to others who may consider trying to make a move on you.

The math dictates this to be a pretty easy call...you're getting about 2-1 and you are probably ahead more than 50% of the time...

I think the short stack was pushing the flop no matter what came, but if he is doing this he probably has a hand with an ace. You might catch him with something like 77 or QK, but I really think you should fold here.

Eh. I think he has an ace with a bad kicker, but he's gonna have to show it to me.

It's really close. You're getting 1.9:1 pot odds to call and if you play around with pokerstove you can come up with ranges for the villain defending that make it marginally correct or incorrect to call. I'd call to let people know that I'm not blind stealing with crap and am willing to call if it's close as the big stack.

I might fold this one.

Any bet villain makes will leave him pot committed, I think its a straightforward ace.

More than half your holdings have an ace in them (especially in stealing mode) , so its hard for villain to bet into the hand without something.

Looks like a Stop n Go by the BB.

Getting 2-1 I call here in a heartbeat as I expect an A to c/r all in.

An A *may* push this flop out of the BB as he may be afraid of the two diamonds and doesn't want to tie you to the pot, but more often than not a shortstacked opponent who pairs an A on the flop will check to the PF raiser to let them bet.

Regards,
Woodguy

I totally agree with this assessment.

The BB short stack needs to double up. so with any ace he's check-raising the flop. I call because he's desperate and might make this play pairing one of the other cards on the board or with any two.
