Default Big Blind Hand, hit trips on flop, worried about kicker...

I've only been at this table for 1 orbit, it dropped from 9 handed to 6 handed. No 'reads' except that this dudes been in >50% of the flops (PT said 56%, but this was only over 7-9 hands). Probably not very important with that small of a sample.

PokerStars 0.05/0.10 Hold'em (6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, 3 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (3.40 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls, MP folds.

Turn: (2.70 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero calls.

River: (4.70 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 6.70 BB

(After my flop bet, MP took his full allotted 15 seconds before folding. With the UTG call, i decided in this span of time that I wanted to post this hand...not being results oriented or anything, and this isn't meant to imply that I won/lost this hand)

After the flop bet and his call, I thought to myself that it's possible he's got an ace, but he might also have the last Q with almost certainly a better kicker. Was check-calling the rest of the way the best plan in a hand like this? It seems almost obvious that it is, to ME, but what about to you?

Bet the turn. If he reraises you he might have a Q. But when you check, it's like you're telling him you were bluffing and his ace is enough.

hemstock cheated by being present at the table for the hand in question, but regardless...

with no reads, isn't it possible that this caller in a short-handed table has something like QT, etc, and could also be worried about his kicker...and thus betting into him would be throwing away bets that he might make "crying calls" on, rather than taking the opportunity for a free showdown with such a weak trips?

I guess I didn't note that Q8 and anything lower, that didn't match the board, would be a split.

Ide bet the turn, and keep pushing till he pushes back. With the ace and 9 on the board, only a ten, jack or king kicker beats you. Unless he is passive then you should have the best hand.

Since you checked called the turn, raise the river.

Trip Q's HU on a QQA board against people who love to play Ax is a good hand.

erm, sans notes or reliable PT reads, I'd continue to bet this hand for value. Even at the turn, at the worst case senario of him having the case Q, you still only lose to AQ-Q9, and are splitting with any lower possibility.

Against one or two other players here I don't see how you can be worried when no one has shown any strength. Like it was said above, definately keep betting until someone gives you a reason to worry.
