Becuase people tell him he's wrong and he hates learning.

That's pretty harsh. It's tough for any of us to go through a very bad downswing which obviously involves a lot of horrible luck and be able to critically and unemotionally look at our game and accept the sometimes vicious criticism of this site - especially as a high profile posater like DR.

He refused to learn from his mistakes long before he posted about his big downswing. Whether it involved horrible luck or horrible play, who cares? What does that have to do with an unwillingness to listen to criticism from very smart people?

Fwiw I don't think I would call davidross a "high profile poster". He has a sort of cult following of a bunch of people that read his journals a couple years ago, but most of the people that have seen his strategy posts or played with him wouldn't refer to him like that.

He posted 2 or 3 mths ago that he went on a vacation and didn't play a single-hand for 10 days which was a first since he turned pro.

He qualified for the PokerStars Bahamas PCA event. Don't know when...just happened past his name under the 'cash-qualifiers' so I suppose congrats are in order for that. He seems to have a fairly strong tourney game as best I can tell (have been at his table a few times).

Okaaay. I guess I didn't read too many of his strategy posts. Didn't know there were sour feelings. I guess I was part of the journal cult.

He definitely received some criticism regarding his limit-game strategy.

Some have accused him of being too weak-tight at times.

I played a limit game with him about a year ago and I believe he limped UTG with AK or AQ as I recall.
I even sent him a PM asking why he did that and he explained that he had been experimenting with that play some.

He certainly thinks about the game...but some of his ideas went a little against some of the more aggressive strategies that many 2+2'ers believe in.

His journal is probably the biggest reason that we now have thousands of semiprofessional and professional players who multitable the internet games. When he first starting writing about it, there were only a few people doing this.

In early 2003, he was absolutely destroying the Party 3/6 games while playing a very weak/tight strategy. Of course, the games have gotten much tougher at all limits since then.

The table averages in the evenings have dropped 50 percent from that time period. I remember seeing plenty of 50+tables now it's one tilted whacko table with a waiting list 10 deep.......
