Default My own Private Idaho

So my girlfriend works for a company in Manassas VA and got sent to Boise ID for training for about two months. I will be going out there for around 4 days here soon and wonder what I should do besides see the amazing mountains and springs. She is quite interested in the answer too, as she knows no one and has the corporate car and card to enjoy, with an expense account. So OOT, whats to do in Boise?

Boise has a pretty decent downtown for a city its size. Some good drinking spots and concerts and such. Minor league hockey. Pick up a Boise Weekly if you like concerts/clubs, etc...

Some restaurants suck, some good ones go out of business before I can recommend them. I would definitely go to Gernika for casual Basque food. Consistently good food, cheap, and good cheap wine to go with it. That is downtown on the Basque block, across the street from the Grove. Try Bittercreek Ale House for casual food and a good beer selection. They also have a good selection of wine and liquor. I forget the exact location. I want to say 8th and Idaho. Bardenay is also OK, it is across from Gernika. A new restaurant called Andre's is getting good reviews, but I have not been there yet. It is fancy and French. Don't have the address. You might want to look up the local paper, the Idaho Statesman, on the net and get some reviews and ideas. Flying M for coffee.

Boise is sort of quirky. It won't strike you as much at first, but many people come to like it. If you like outdoors stuff you will like it more. Lots of bike riding. People tend to like fly fishing/kayaking/skiing and such.
