Default Two questions - 1) How many hands, 2) Winrate

Quick poll....

First is how many hands have you played since you have gotten serious about poker (i.e. started to read books, post at 2+2, etc. - I am not counting those hands you played when you first started and likely didn't know what you were doing)

Second is what is your combined win rate over those hands? (in BB/100, so if your playing multiple levels, include them all as one)

If you don't worry about letting people know about you, please post both your numbers as a reply, to show the correlation (there is a HUGE difference between winning at 4.50 BB/100 over 10k hands and winning 4.50BB/100 over 200k hands!!!)

147,763 hands @ 3.86 BB/100

All of these hands are at Party Poker .50/1.00

I was thinking about maybe moving up.

He's trying to backdoor a "how much should I be winning" thread by using a poll. Very clever. I'm not going to fall for it though.

Simple,

If you look at one of the links in Q-Tip's (Most excellent post) it talks about how everyone here is CRUSHING the game.

I don't think that is a reality, I think that there are a lot of people between 1-2 BB/100 and have played a lot.

This is to put some light around the fact that not everyone is beating the game for 4+ BB/100 over 200k hands.

The game is hard, and this is to show some reality to what people have accomplished. Some may use it as a brag post and that is fine, but if you look at my results, it clearly is not for me.

Not the case, just for information, mostly for newer people to the boards, so they don't come here and think that either...

1) if I am not winning at 4BB/100 I am not worthy to be here

or

2) I should be winning at 4BB/100 because that is the norm for good players

Very, very few people here have played enough hands at a single level in order to have a statistically signficant win rate. I see one of them has posted here, but my argument stands. Most people will play 10-30k hands at a given level and, if they feel they've mastered it, move up.

Your winnings mean nothing. What matters is your play. If your play is good, winning takes care of itself. I mean, I'm very guilty of checking my bankroll too often, but I'm not going to let a hot streak convince me I'm God's gift to poker, nor am I going to let a downswing force me to overhaul my play. Instead, I'm going to keep coming back to the forum to keep on refining my play and get better win, lose, or draw. I can tell you for sure that no matter how big or how small your roll is, you've missed out on some Sklansky bucks somewhere. Post strategy here and get better. Respond to hands, especially if you think you don't know the right answer. Get corrected and learn. Hopefully you'll look back at this post and get a good laugh at yourself.

The other thing to keep in mind is that this is the sort of post that I tend to lock for no content. You are new, but please bear in mind that this is a strategy forum, and we try and keep our posts about strategy, not win rates.
