Re: Test Your Knowledge on Roe v Wade (Abortion)
I think that only works if the second question splits into separate polls on the first question.

The typical voter does not understand the results of Roe v Wade being over-turned. [/ QUOTE ] I don't believe the "typical" voter is ignorant. Liberals, far more than conservatives, have been preaching a lie. I think if a real poll was taken, and you separated the results from left and right, you would find far more people on the left believe overturning RvW will outlaw abortion. |

Re: Test Your Knowledge on Roe v Wade (Abortion)
The power will go to the states, but I don't think any states will outlaw them.
So I guess that makes me "Other"... |

Re: Test Your Knowledge on Roe v Wade (Abortion)
Personally, I think that's making the assumption they merely "overturn" Roe v. Wade -
I doubt there will be any more Court challenges on that basis - the pro-life crowd will be looking at other options to totally take it out of the loop - RB |

Re: Test Your Knowledge on Roe v Wade (Abortion)
Sheet is right.
I may be called a 'liberal' (despite being an anarchist) but I still agree that the 'left' does not seem to understand this issue. Why doesn't the right think overturning Roe vs. Wade will lead to banned abortions? Because that would be political SUICIDE. The abortion issue is what powers the right wing vote. They keep promising pro-life, and they keep getting votes, but if they were actually to ban it then there would be a mutiny from all those supposed religious families where their daughters are popping the pill and going in for abortions. Abortion goes away then all they can do is go around and promise no [censored] marriages...and as we have all seen the states have been REAL QUICK to get those civil union laws in. Re: Test Your Knowledge on Roe v Wade (Abortion)
I think the Left has totally gotten it wrong in most cases - In this case, they think it's a woman's rights issue - It IS a matter of privacy, but I think that's secondary to the big issue.
Every abortion is a failure - a failure to use contraception, a failure to have the necessary social infrastructure in place to support unwed mothers who keep their babies, a failure to educate teenagers on the right way to have sex (not just that abstainance bullshit) - It is by far the worst form of birth control that should only be used in certain circumstances, and I believe it should happen before brain waves develop in the fetus - I don't like late trimester abortions at all - and in most cases, it is the worst and last choice of a number of choices that people have, including contraception, adoption, adaptation, etc, etc. I'd like to see it used only in cases of rape, incest, and severe deformity - but as long as the Religious and Political right gloss over and don't address the failures I've mentioned above (some of which they're responsible for) then I don't see how I could possibly justify banning it when what it will do is force women back into an unsafe situation in which our society will neither support nor care if she choses to raise the child.
