Default 5-10 tipping custom...

Sorry for the bumb post guys but I've only played 2-4 and 3-6 live and am heading down to AC tommorrow to play 5-10 at taj. My question is how much do you tip after winning a pot? I can't see throwing a dealer a red chip for a smalll stakes pot and I'll obviously have some whites from posting blinds, so is it still the standard buck from 2-4/3-6 or a little higher.

Thanks, sorry again for the waste of time.
Matt

$1 is standard. BTW, I would highly reccommend playing the Borgata 6-12 instead if you can get there early enough.

In every game you can ask the dealer to chop that game's chips into white chips. Or blue chips in LV/CA.

There will be whites in the pot from the rake. $1 is standard even in the very large games. I tip well because I'm in the business (floor/dealer) but I never expect anyone to tip like myself. If I'm at work and propping I tip 2-3 a pot. When I'm out playing I tip according to dealer competence, if the dealer is friendly, and pot size.

Ok cool, the standard $1 tip seems to make sense, I just didn't know if it was stakes dependent. I also tip a little more if the dealer is very good or pot is large, and if it's an exceptional dealer I'll throw a buck as he/she leaves even if I don't play a pot (depending on how the night's going. Thanks for the info.

Also now I'm curious, is the 6-12 at the Borgata that much better than the 5-10 at Taj? I obviously like the Borg better but the Taj is where I first started and figured I'd head there, but if the Borg game is much better I'll convince my buddies to change it up.

Thanks again and good luck,
Matt

Toss 'em a white for a pot. If its a bigger pot (20 BB+), toss 'em 2. Dealers will gladly chop up a red for you if you ask.

I've only been to a B&M once but when I was there quite a few people, who I assume were locals, that would have the dealer chop a white and tip $.5 and pocket the rest. That just seemed cheap.

The Borg 6-12 is typically much better. 5-10 is a bad structure for generating action (one chip, two chip betting) and contains many rocks at Taj (though some games are better than others).
