Oakland fans are officially the worst

Watching the M's and A's last night on TV, Oakland fans were loudly booing Ichiro each time he came to the plate. Dave Neihaus (voice of the M's) said Oakland is the only road city that has booed him every at bat since he came to the major leagues.

I think A's fans must revel in their obnoxiousness. OK, if it's a team you're battling for a playoff spot, I can understand booing a star player. But I would think any decent fan at this point in the season would at least show some begrudging respect for Ichiro. Look at Braves fans earlier this year when Randy pitched his perfect game - they were on their feet cheering in the 9th, because they recognized they were witnessing history.

I can't imagine attending a game where I might get to see a player break a 80+ year old record, and not at least show some respect for the player, even if he's on the other team.

I almost posted this as well. I was watching the game thinking the exact same thing. My question is, how can you boo Ichiro, and why him? This is like booing Edgar. Makes no sense, but just gives me yet another reason to hate Oakland.

I guess I'm a little old school when I say "screw it, he's a Mariner. Boo him." lots of recent history goes into the M's/A's rivalry

On another note, the giants fans are the worst, but the Oakland fans, in all sports, contribute to the Bay Area's title of Worst Fans, All Around Category.

Why do you boo a guy who is having a awesome year and has done nothing but improve the games image in the U.S. and abroad? He plays with class and leaves it all on the field. He doesn't even get booed in NY.

I would say they're the worst for a different reason......

18,583 at the Tuesday game to see a team that was (at that time one game up and fighting the Angels)

28,556 for last nights game...a little better but the Mariners consistently outdraw being 30 out..

This is one of the reasons I'm rooting for the Angels
