Re: 88 in the BB
Just adding another voice of reason, fold the turn no question. He could be betting a weak ace that wasnt good enough to lead on the flop. Or a queen that has now tripped. Or another midpair better than yours.
Insanely easy decision, throw your cards in the muck. |

Re: 88 in the BB
Ok, so with 4 players in the pot, A and a Q on the flop and NOBODY bets. Look, maybe I'm in the land of make believe, but I've never seen a fish or any other person check their ace on the flop, unless it's on a 3-flush board or a paired board...maybe I haven't played long enough, but this is what I've seen in my short poker life.
As far as the second Q, who can I put on it... No way in HELL I give SB credit for a Q, he had been making stupid bets like this all night, and I didn't believe him. Give credit to the Button for a Q? Why wouldn't he have bet his Queen on the flop seeing everyone check to him? The only person I worry about having a Queen is UTG, and if he had 3-bet me I woulda folded and pissed away 2 BB. But I believed I was good here and raised. I guess I suck, but I'm gonna hit this in this type of situation everytime and bleed BB I guess. But I like to win small pots, what can I say. If I did anything wrong in my mind it was not raising this preflop and not value betting the SB on the river... |

We post here to improve are game. You posted a hand, we gave you what we thought the correct play was and you are telling us, screw you guys but this is my "style" and I'm gonna keep trying to win in these situations. You don't wanna win all the small pots, and you shouldn't care. You are basically saying you are risking 2BB to win 3. It's not worth it. You should care mostly about winning the bif pots. [ QUOTE ] If I did anything wrong in my mind it was not raising this preflop and not value betting the SB on the river... [/ QUOTE ] No you played this hand badly by caring about winning a 3BB pot. PERIOD. |

Re: 88 in the BB
Hands like this one just blow. If you fold the turn, people will call you weak. If you call the turn, they say you're a calling station. If you raise the turn, they call you over-aggressive or just plain stupid.
Myself, I like your turn raise here and getting the free lookie-loo on the river. This is micro PP, the villian could have anything. But what do I know right? |

You're risking at least 2 BBs to win 3BBs. Looks like your plan worked on the other two, but that SB doesn't appear to be going anywhere with his raggedy A or Q little. |

[/ QUOTE ] Perhaps, you've practiced some damn good table selection with some real LAGGY players. But, I've seen LOTS of real passive/calling station types check their A on the flop. They're likely to call you down and show you a weak A. You haven't seen it. I believe you. But, I think you're likely to see it soon.
