[ QUOTE ] baseball and Enron... [/ QUOTE ] yeah the Enron quote baffled me. [/ QUOTE ] it would have been just as logical to link Moneyball to WWII. |

Re: Joe Morgan
[ QUOTE ]
Good read on the clown Hello, im an idiot [/ QUOTE ] This isn't a knock on the content of the article, but here is a pet peeve: Writers who get caught up in their flowery prose and overuse of the thesaurus. "He is a small man -- they called him "Little Joe" in his playing days -- and you can see his 61 years in the gray around his mustache and the slight hitch in his walk, but standing here, fairly gleaming in his ex-jock mufti, Joe looks young, fit, and content. His shoes are fine and tasseled, his suit is a resplendent cream, his jacket is slung insouciantly over his left shoulder -- an iridescent look that falls somewhere between churchgoer and deckhand on the Love Boat" |

Re: Joe Morgan
I agree, it was much longer than it had to be. I accidentally re-read lines a couple times too, but I was trying to watch The Simpsons at the same time.

Re: Joe Morgan
Why don't you ask Joe Morgan who wrote Moneyball, wonder what he'll tell you.

Re: Joe Morgan
from his book, baseball for dummies:
[ QUOTE ] This stat (WHIP) tells you how many base runners a pitcher surrenders for every inning pitched...A WHIP below 1.50 is outstanding in these heavy-hitting days [/ QUOTE ] the book was released in 2005 |
