I'd say it's looking good since you might get KK or QQ to fold.

The 3 makes it a bit less good than it would have been with a blank. The 3 can make you opponent more suspicius that you are on a "bluff"... even if it would be crazy to represent a 3.

When you say villain is a "solid LAG," does that mean that he is not capable of folding a better hand, like KK and QQ? And does the free river play really work against a "solid LAG"?

Or does "solid LAG" only refer to pf tendencies?

Getting Tigerjumma to fold...HA! If he has 98s (which is definitly in his range) he's not folding. I think calling down is best. You REALLY just want to get to showdown against this guy...

Solid lag in my mind ment preflop laggyness and reasonable postflop play. ____1____ has a different read on this particular player.

Against the kind of opponent you describe I prefer to call down sometimes, and take the line you did sometimes occaisonally better the river.
