Default commerce 20 40 .... who bets this river?

Hero is SB with A9o. Villain is Button. CO posts. Folded to button he raises. I 3 bet. Everyone folds and button calls.

Flop is 9 8 7 rainbow

I bet, Villain calls

Turn is 6 completing rainbow

I bet, Villain calls

River J

I think if your opponent was going to bluff raise/semi-bluff raise it would have been on the turn so I like a bet. The J is scary because it's a likely card to pair a drawing hand. But if you bet the river you are representing an overpair or a straight and I think you can safely fold to a river raise ....while a pair that you have beat may check behind if you check. And I do think opponent will call the river with one pair if he/she called the turn.

If opponent has any bluff river raising tendencies then I like a check call.

I would check raise the flop here because button is likely to bet if you check.

Are you not eliciting opinions on your post?

And if you disagree with my reply why not just say "Yada yada is clearly the right play in my opinion."

I'm betting this one. You check this, all the hands that beat you but can't raise this scary board will bet. If you bet this, all those hands will call... but so will 22-44, A8, all those other junky hands that villians like to play. When called, you might lose more than you win, but you're gonna have to call a bet on this river, so make him pay for all the hands he can't bet but will call.
