Default not so easy is it?? i got hosed...

if i could shut my mind off and go with my gut 100% of the time i'd probably kick some serious poker ass.

28/15/1.7 limps. 19/8/1.16 raises (i've seen this guy around for a long long long time. since 15/30. he plays well. not surprising if he was one of the good 2p2ers) folded to me i 3bet red jacks limps calls he calls.

flop is all black K52 two tone. 28 checks 19 suddenly bets.

my gut said, "end of hand. fold." ... but for the love of god my mind said, "STOP, not so fast!!!...what does he have?, well if he had a weak king that he would isolate he'd probably try to get to a cheap showdown. if he has a strong king of a pair that just turned into a set, why wouldn't he checkraise me AND the weaker player. he must know there's a good chance im going to raise. so does he WANT me to raise? i dont think so. i think he doesn't want me to check or have to decide what to do if he checks and i bet. or i think he wants me to fold. i think he has a pocket pair."

so i raised. (who calls here? clearly many fold, and they should.as i believe i should have...now...) 28 folded 19 called.

turn is a 2. great card right? im thinking if he checks and i bet im checking behind if he calls and folding if he raises. but he BETS! .. F&*K, now what the duece does he have? its something that could stand to call my flop raise but something that wants action? this makes no sense. wtf could he have? ive never seen a hand played like this from him. ever. and ive played with him a TON. MY OWN notes file has 18K hands on him. not a datamined notefile, not a borrowed or traded one. MY OWN 180k hand database has a full 18k hands on him. so now im thinking maybe he thinks i think he has a poket pair and raised willing to give up on the turn.

or he has a king and im beat. or he has a boat and im 2 out drawing.or he has the most strangely plyed flushed draw in the history of the world.

so now i want a free showdown and to make him pay. so of course, despite my gut, i raised AGAIN!.

wow, i must be nuts.

the river SHOULD be ANOTHER great card. its a goddamn 2. K5222222222222222222222222222222222222222

222222222222222 is the board im looking at.

im 100% prepared to check and this mother effer bets AGAIN!?!?

i give up. my mind shut down. my gut said "HAHA" ...i have no clue. but he knows im going to at LEAST call. so i folded.

Intresting hand...he must know u could have AK, KQs some face pair. Thats intresting play though on his part, as he'd want to checkraise the field with something strong.

When he bets the river, he has to expect u to call him. Weird hand...wonder what the heck he had? Up until the river, I thought maybe 88-TT or a medium strength K.

lol great post. IME those donk bets drive people insane because they are so unusual. He must have had a king. KQ probably. Here's why:

He hit the flop nice. So he bets the flop and you raise him. He calls, and when the turn puts a flush draw on board he decides he can't let you have a free card. When you raise now he's worried about being out-kicked instead of the flush draw. Then when the third 2 comes, he knows he's very likely chopping so he bets for value.

I think if I just gave up everytime the flop came K-rag-rag and I had an underpair, after three-betting preflop (and me playing tight all night, showing big hands for winners), and they give me action on flop (although this flop donk bet is tough to handle here, the turn, i think is a fold), and I think, well they can't have a king (despite THEIR preflop raise) they'd rope-a-dope to showdown, didn't they get the memo, I would be richer.

I agree it looks like you're beat, but how can you fold the river for one bet? Even if you lose, you have gained some information.

Very good post. I think I play it the same although I could also see just calling the turn.

Absolutely horrible hand. Also, your bet/check turn/river plan blows.

Sounds like he plays very well. What's the big deal? He knew exactly what you were doing, and played it accordingly.
