Help: Searching on 2+2

I have a problem with the search function. I want to search for just the top level a thread. Whenever I search I get a bunch of Re: <search item>. This is retarded, I don't want to see a bunch of replies for a thread before I see the one that started it.

How can I turn that off, or more importantly, who will change the search function so it doesn't suck?
