you absolutely have to check fold here. Button could be limping with a small ace, instead of raising, because of the short stack. Maybe he doesn't want to take risks with say A7. But more importanly you have no room to bet with your left over stack. You have 12xx, it's just not enough to bet and then fold. You have position on the short stack, you're basically a lock for CASH. Check fold.

This is a donkish button play any way you look at it. It's not fun, but I agree with the check-folders. Pushing is obviously second-best, but I think it's a distant second.
