Re: PLO8 - flopped top two pair
i'm new to plo myself, but let me give it a try. i think the flop bet was good b/c there is no low draw to think of and a Q J or T could ruin your hand. if someone raises you its probably a good idea to release your hand. i'm probably way off base here though....anyone else wanna try. i think top 2 is the hardest hand to play well in plo.

Re: PLO8 - flopped top two pair
PUG,
Top 2 pair is not a lot to get excited about, especially in early position. I tend to check from EP and see what happens. The fact that you were called by two short stacks was definitely favorable. If one of the big stacks calls or raises, you need to be ready to fold if he plays back at you, as you have 4 outs to improve (and probably less, as many people will limp w/ any a-{2,3,4,5} type hands; with 6 opponents that is likely). Setting your opponent in on the river is fine, chances are he has a low draw and a flush draw (results aside). With one card to come you are in good shape to get at least half the pot. PG |

Re: PLO8 - flopped top two pair
I agree with Poker here - top 2 with no re-draws in EP is very tought to play, and even tougher in PLO/8.
I do like the bet, because you will get the low draws out, and the A took away any low your hand might have. Obviously this is a micro-limit table, so some of the play by your opponents is less than stellar, but realize in the future what hand you are going to get called and raised on when you move up. even at .50/1 and by 1/2 players calling a pot sized flop bet will likely have one or 2 of the following 1. A Set 2. A good wrap (QJT) 3. A nut, or (near nut Flush) draw You are behind #1 already, and close to even against 2 or 3, but if you combine 2 and 3 - you are also behind. |

Re: PLO8 - flopped top two pair
Check and fold to a pot sized bet, you're out of position and there's almost no cards that can come that won't wreck your hand. If rags come, you'll split the pot with a low. Any diamond and your hand is gone, Any ten, jack, queen and your hand is most likely gone.

Re: PLO8 - flopped top two pair
Thanks for your answers!
Obviously I have to tighten up my play. I coming from Holdem NL (often shorthanded), and I want to show my hands (edit: not my poker-hand) when I play. As a litle man once sad... "have to unlearn what you have learn" /Pug |
