Flights/Hotel deals for Vegas
I'm planning out a trip for me + 3 guys total to Vegas in late June / early July to play poker / watch some of the WSOP. Looking to stay 4 nights I believe. I think the consensus among us is to get a hotel on the strip, but I might even consider Fremont St. Seems like everyone wants a hotel with a pool also.
We stayed at Imperial Palace in '05, and were not pleased, mainly due to the constant difficulty of getting an elevator up to our room. Right now I'm just checking prices and flights on expedia.com, orbitz.com, and hotels.com. Looks like $665 @ Excalibur might be the best price for what I need (flying out of Newark, NJ). Does anyone know of any other travel websites or travel agencies that could possibly offer a better travel deal? Or does anyone know of any hotels that offer their own room/package promotions. Any room/airline/promotional feedback is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Flights/Hotel deals for Vegas
First off, be advised that Excalibur is a relative dump although if you did not have a problem with the rooms at IP, you will not have a problem with the rooms at Excalibur.
Second, be aware that the pool at excalibur may not have the best eye candy in the world. You may want to consider Tropicana(but do not stay in the Garden rooms), which while old and dilapidated, still has a killer pool with cuties in abundance. Even better yet is the pool at Flamingo, though that may be cost prohibitive. 1.) Sign up for email promotions on casinos websites 2.) Check the hotel bin on cheapovegas.com 3.) Download and use the software at travelaxe.com 4.) If you find an independent air rate that is cheap, contact the casinos directly and see if they offer a great rate. 5.) If you are planning on attending the WSOP a lot, consider staying at Orleans, off the strip. Very nice 3 star place, about 1 mile from Rio, where the WSOP is held. Orleans is likely to be inexpensive and will price match any internet rate you find. I find travelocity tends to have very good prices on Orleans provided you book several months in advance. To avoid cancellation costs, make sure to use the price match and book directly with the hotel. 6.) Also try Vegas.com, i4vegas.com, bookvegas.com, tripadvisor.com, and travelocity.com |

Don't worry about it, that pedophilia case against me never held up in court.

Re: Flights/Hotel deals for Vegas
If you only want to watch WSOP and play elsewehere, get a poker rate at a strip hotel - if MGM, Bellagio and Wynn are too much $$, go with Monte Carlo, great location and great poker room. I did that this year and it worked well. Daytime poker isn't a fish fest at Monte Carlo but its not too difficult either. Staff is great.

This should be a sticky for any travel plans. |
