Default Paradise Poker Hand Histories sans Email

I'd like to ask the opinion of the fine folks that frequent these boards.

What would the implications be if, hypothetically, someone were to develop an application to monitor a Paradise table and generate hand histories on-the-fly?

Would this be against the TOS of Paradise? If not, would it be frowned upon? Paradise apparently has some reason for not implementing it themselves.

Should such an application be released or kept under wraps?

As long as the hand histories were only being generated on the users computer and not sent to a shared database, you would likely be fine.

Did you create such an app already?

I was beginning to wonder if I had been too subtle. I am currently in the development phase. My main goal is to be able to use it with a HUD (currently GT+, but Josh keeps promising Paradise support in PAHUD).

I saw nothing in the TOS that would forbid it as long as it were not used to control a bot. This brings up questions about whether to wait until after hands are finished to write to the file, etc.

Basically, I like Paradise and don't want to tick them off.

that sounds great. I'll volunteer to beta test if you come up with something.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't really think there is a need for beta testing. The application is simple enough, and testing is as easy as playing with it running, and then comparing the output to real hand histories.

Currently, it works well enough that I am using it when I play. It can detect player actions, board cards, etc. and the output is good enough that Poker Tracker can parse it. It doesn't try to determine what hand a person is holding when he shows down, much less try to determine who won the pot. All-in's and side pot are even further away. It also tends to lock up about every 30-50 hands.

So, what can it do? It can log player actions, so VPIP, PFR, and aggression numbers are all pretty accurate.

Maybe you should just email them and ask?
