Re: I\'ll put you all-in
It's more badass if you ask for a count of your opponents chips, take that number from your own stack, and then bet that much.

Re: I\'ll put you all-in
You are, at any time an acting player requests it of you, required to tell them how many chips are in front of you (or the dealer is). I'll put you all in is perfectly acceptable at the largest tournaments (and any tournament) played in the world.

Re: I\'ll put you all-in
It's easier than asking a guy to count all his chips, then counting out exactly that many yourself and putting him all in. It saves time...I like it.

Re: I\'ll put you all-in
So you'd rather sit there while some guy eyeballs all your chips, asks you to spread them all out so he can count them, spends two minutes trying to count them from across the table...then counts out exactly how many you have.
Yeah...that's good for the game. |

Please show me where in the TDA rules it says that. [/ QUOTE ] It doesn't say in the rules not to take a dump on the table during the color-up, but you know better. How else, exactly, is this supposed to work? You can have a dealer do it. You could have a tournament director do it. What if your home tourney has neither of those? Would you rather I did the count myself? That's fine by me, but I don't think I would take very good care of your chips. |

Re: I\'ll put you all-in
I think I'm going to go practice capping chips off the top of stacks RIGHT NOW!

Re: I\'ll put you all-in
[ QUOTE ]
Please show me where in the TDA rules it says that. [/ QUOTE ] The proper thing to do (if heads up) would just be to go all-in instead of making this move. However, while it may not be in the TDA rules anywhere (I haven't read them, I'm not being a nit), many tournaments allow you to request what your opponent's chipstack is from the dealer/director, who then will give you an actual chip count. Additionally, you are entitled to ask questions about your opponent's chipstacks, or walk over there and count them out without touching them, if someone's a complete nit. If you were to bring up the TDA rules in every home game you were in, I would fail to see how you would be invited back to games. Additionally, the TDA rules do NOT always apply to every tournament - the casino's rules or house rules do. Where they are in conflict, the casino's rules take precedence, and a tournament director's decision is final. Al |

Re: I\'ll put you all-in
You won't find it in any rulebook slamdunkpro. Off the cuff I doubt if the NFL rules specifically state that each team is entitled to know the score of the other team at any given time but it definitely changes how they play the game in marginal situations. Chips are simply how to keep score in a tournament and the ability to get an accurate count is neccesary. Some genius may be able to keep a running count of every player in thier head but normal people can't so we count them.

You won't find it in any rulebook [/ QUOTE ] That's right, and that’s the whole point. It’s not a right, a requirement, or a mandatory thing. Some locations and home games may have this as a rule; if they do; fine, but it’s not a general poker rule it’s a courtesy that players extend.. If it’s not a rule then you can’t force a player to do it. Most players mistakenly assume this is a rule because of the fact that online sites keep a running tally for everyone to see. Part of the game in a tournament is trying to figure out what everyone else has. I’ve played in many local and national tournaments where if you are in a hand and ask a player how much they have they just smile and stare at you. [ QUOTE ] I doubt if the NFL rules specifically state that each team is entitled to know the score of the other team at any given time [/ QUOTE ] Actually it is. |
