Re: what are the mets thinking?
Cameron makes $7 mil and change, Nady $500K. They're clearing not only salary, but a patch of grass in the Shea outfield for Manny.

Re: what are the mets thinking?
is the difference that much? that makes more sense.
just as long as it's a salary dump of sorts. |

Re: what are the mets thinking?
I think the Mets are going to try and sign Billy Wagner as well which won't be cheap.

Nady also can play first with Jacobs if Delgado doesn't come over.

Re: what are the mets thinking?
Better question is, what are the Padres thinking? Lets see, lets trade a young guy with a bunch of upside and a very low salary for an old guy that is barely better than average with a very high salary. Is Isiah Thomas running the Padres now?

[/ QUOTE ] The Padres are thinking let's get rid of this nag Xavier Nady for a gold glove center fielder with power and speed to patrol the spacious Petco outfield. This was a very good move by the Padres. It will improve thier defense, which will improve thier pitching, which is how they are going to win games. |

Lets trade a young cheap prospect for a old, overpaid outfielder who will be skiddish when he hears footsteps in the outfield there again. |

And let's not overlook the fact that not only will Cameron inprove thier pitching with his stellar D, he will improve thier offense over Nady as well. This was clearly a win now type of move on the Padres part. The good thing about it is, they didn't have to give up more than a utility player. Cameron is paid fair market value for his talent, charecter, and experience. |
