It sure does seem that way at times. When you lose hand after hand with quality cards and everyone catches what they need to beat you. But someone does win the lottery and megabucks is occasionaly hit, so this is something that can only make one go hmmm.

So, is there anyone who can state with certainty that the online sites are not rigged in any way. If it is to the advantage of an online site to have as many customers as possible that will always come back, isn't to the advantage of an online site to see that all winning is distributed so that people do come back. And isn't also quite profitible to the sites to have computer players play for the site and rig their winning? Can anyone state with certainty that the above does not take place and provide some proof of their claims? Becasue sometimes the sites don't always seem on the up and up.

I certainly can't say that I know... but I also haven't seen anything to make me think anything is rigged either. On the days when my two pair or three of a kind of are consistently beaten by runner-runner gut-shot straights, it's tempting to believe things are rigged. But I sat down yesterday and made full houses two hands in a row for a 5-minute 25 BB profit. I think that short-term variance is just much more noticeable online because of the large number of hands played. If things were really rigged, I wouldn't expect to also consistently profit (over the long term) from making the correct plays.

i've seen things in live games that are just as crazy as things that happen online. for some reason, when people can't see the cards and it's just on the screen they figure the site is rigged and that it's not completely random. online sites just have the negative stigma. in live games when 4 ppl each get dealt AK and go all in they don't blame WSOP for rigging the deck. stuff like that happens because odds-wise, it is possible. and to explain the frequency of powerful hands winning all the time, well you see tons more hands online because game speed is faster, that's all.

There is no reason for poker sites to "rig" games. they make money no matter what cards come out. Weak players win because of the nature of the games being played. The short run win s keep the bad players coming back, the "good" players are the ones who lose when it happens. But in the long run the make a killing from the weak players. The weak players play for the gamble, the strong players play for the long run win. If the sites were rigged, someone would find out and the site would be shut down and the sites would lose everything, y take the risk? there are very strict regulations for major poker sites.

If someone has a 2% chance to win, they will win 2% of the time, you got your money in with way the best of it, know that you have a huge EV in the long run. It won't happen often but it sure will piss you off to the point of slandering honest companies who have no control over the out come except to make sure it is completely fair.

I think 2+2 forums are rigged. Everyone seems to think the best move is the opposite of what I do.

This is a subject that has been beaten to death on other forums. Vegas casinos used to be crooked. Gradually, they figured out that if you run a fair game and let the immutable odds do their work, people will lose and keep coming back. If someone thinks he's getting fleeced, he'll never come back.

By the same token, the poker sites make the most money by running honest games where things that are supposed to be random are actually random. It is extremely important to any gambling operation to avoid the slightest hint of impropriety.
