[ QUOTE ]
But the odds of flopping a straight, or trips, or two-pair is likely good enough that he's getting implied odds on his 50-cent call, no? I admit that it's close and *probably* bad, given this is a 2-gapper and he's not suited. But I dunno . . .

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course there are some other miracle flops he could get. I will let someone else add those up but I can tell you that they are still not very good. This is a bad call.

Great location, BTW.

It's a reasonable question to ask, what kind of implied odds do you need here to call at this limit, given stack depths, etc. Can you usually get KK to call an all-in on the flop if you hit your raggeddy two-pair or trips?

[ QUOTE ]
If I see someone folding their Big Blind for a min raise alot then I am going to raise any old hand I plan to play against them every single time. I think the loss of the $0.50 is nothing compared to the image that I am going to fold to any raise out of my blinds.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. Defend your $0.50 BB to the death. Can't you see that this particular minraise isn't a steal and that you're like totally crushed here in like 3 spots?

implied odds rule the day here - I'd call with 56s for example, especially since I can put the minraiser on AA a lot of the time - but this hand is [censored].

Ran it on twodimes giving the 3 unknown hands Ax suited, 72o, and an 89 suited connector.

Holdem Hi: 658008 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
3c 6h 67535 10.26 589868 89.64 605 0.09 0.103
Jc Jh 102785 15.62 554618 84.29 605 0.09 0.156
Ks Kh 212982 32.37 444421 67.54 605 0.09 0.324
Ah 2h 118341 17.98 535846 81.43 3821 0.58 0.182
7c 2d 31444 4.78 622743 94.64 3821 0.58 0.050
9d 8d 121100 18.40 536303 81.50 605 0.09 0.184

So my EV is approx 9-10% and the pot is laying me 11:1 on my loose call.

I believe my implied odds if I hit my hand is quite a bit better.

I may have done this incorrectly as I have never used two dimes but have seen the experts here run the numbers.

Yeah, but he's suggesting that his call is for image purposes--i.e. I make loose calls from the BB against weak raises to keep them from stealing. That's just silly in the Party $25 NL game.

What should I hold in the Big Blind to call a minimum raise with a pseudo family pot that my call will close?

Any pair, Any 2 suited, Any 2 connected, Any two Ten or better, Ax, Kx, and maybe one gappers?

Do I need to go more with the a Big Bet saved is a Big Bet earned theory and not waste money on nearly hopeless trash hands.

remember though that these stats are based on seeing the entire hand through to the river, which is unlikely given your holding. For instance, if you only flopped a pair, and someone bet 4 dollars, you arent going to stick around to catch that miracle trips card on the river. Your ev isnt as high as you think it is.

However, i agree, min raising is stupid.

but im not the one that caught a miracle flop with off suit trash against two big pocket pairs.

peace

Why were you calling the preflop bet with that crap anyway? Just looks like you gave somebody some bad beats.
