The reason the electoral process can be exploited like this is because it sucks and everyone's vote doesn't count.

At what point do you think your vote would actually count, when you and only you decide?

I think that would be a clear case of my vote counting, yes.

Any system in which a geographic move by a few hundred voters dedicated to one specific cause could decide an election is stupid. Vote trading is effectively doing the same thing.

Default could backfire fore Kerry

I live in a swing state. Whats to prevent me from operating under a pretense that I will vote for Nader(while knowing I will vote for Bush) just so I can sucker some liberal to throw away his vote?

My suspicion is that most of the people who are supposedly trading the votes won't do it.

But, I think the reward clearly outweighs the risk in this case. I seriously doubt there will be enough of a movement to make a difference, though.

I agree, why don't you just piss on the Constitution and Alexander Hamilton's grave while your at it, not to mention all of the smaller/rural states. If the people want to change the electoral process, they will do it through amendments/laws.

Then again, as long as it's legal (if it is legal), I guess I can't complain too much. It still doesn't seem right though.

If politicians can manipulate and take advantage of the electoral college, the people can as well. I see absolutely no problem with this.

You know what? This thread has made me lose all respect I had for the Electoral College.

You should do something just because a politician can do it? What kind of BS is that? Because you can do it does not make it right, or fair. It is quite sad that some votes seem to count more than others do. All votes are not created equal right now, and I cannot see upholding the electoral college when people are trying to abuse it this much. At least with a popular vote, people can go back to stuffing ballots and registering multiple times.
