I 3-bet AK, Hit My Pair and Fold to a River Raise
Villian here was maybe a bit loose, but pretty solid overall (33/23/1.5). I give him credit for being a thinking player. Is there a better way to play it?

Re: I 3-bet AK, Hit My Pair and Fold to a River Raise
Ok, I figured this would be seen as an uuto-call by 2+2, but I guess I'm still not convinced.
I beat Ax, KK, KQ, and 99-. Of all of those hands, I don't see any of them being raised on the river by a semi-reasonable player. I felt my image at the table was solid. I had shown down good hands recently. I would very very much doubt that my opponent would raise the river expecting me to fold in this spot. I guess that's the crux of the matter though. If I'm wrong in thinking he could raise a worse hand, then obviously I was wrong to fold. Also, I am still jumping between 3/6 and 5/10, so maybe 5/10 is a bit crazier. That said, I don't see a 32/22/1.5 player raising that river with any hand I beat. I think the only reason to call would be hoping to split with another AK. |

Re: I 3-bet AK, Hit My Pair and Fold to a River Raise
just by gut feel, I'd expect to lose a big majority of the time on the River when raised with that board. however, given that you only need to win 10% of the time to have a +EV of calling...I'd call in this spot. The three clubs and the second jack may have propelled him to a better hand (likely actually given he raised), but there seems to be a solid chance it could have propelled him to bluff and give it a try.
so bottomline is, I'd call given the 9.2 BB pot. |

Ok, thanks for the reply. Aside from the big pot, I guess it comes down to somewhat of a feel play, and I'll be the first to admit my feel is horrible.
