Bluff Magazine...seems like it\'s not too bad...
They've signed up The Grinder, Annie Duke, Clonie, Lou Kreiger, et al to be featured writers. They look like the only mag that could possibly rival Cardplayer.
I bought Pro Player, CP, All-in, and Bluff at the book store the other day. Cardplayer has the biggest name and the best writers, no question. Bluff look like it was a ways ahead of the rest of the pack IMO. Some people just don't like any magazine, but if you do, what is your preference? |

Re: Bluff Magazine...seems like it\'s not too bad...
In the issues I've seen, there have been some good articles.
BUT - many articles did not list any author; I hate that. - many articles were obviously advertisements for a poker website or B&M casino; I hate that too (although even Cardplayer is guilty of this). - some stuff seemed a bit misogynistic. It probably is 2nd best in print, but that's not saying much! As a bonus, one issue had the most insane article by Antonio Esfandiari (sp?) - he really looked like a jackass talking about 100 women staring at him and his boys as they walked into the casino. It was a very funny read. -ptmusic |

I think it's suppose to be a little entertaining, which the articles by Anotnio are. I agree, they're ridiculous, but I laugh at him, not with him if you know what I mean.
I think people are being a little harsh on all the magazines. Travel magazines obviously do articles on great beach, etc. to get people to go to the beach, who inturn pay for advertising in the magazine. GQ has good looking people in cool clothes so the people that read the magazine will buy from the advertisers in the magazine. That's just how the magazine business works. Poker mags obviously have Poker Room reviews and the like to get people to go to the poker rooms, and thus the poker rooms pay advertising fees. To me, I find room reviews and that type of thing pretty helpful. |

[/ QUOTE ] These are all the earmarks of a mag that is merely an advertising rag. Of course most publications depend on advertising for most of their revenue, but unsigned articles in particular are usually just in-house filler fluff. Whereas the 2+2 online magazine here is ad-free, contains articles guaranteed not to contain significant errors, and doesn't require a subscription. |

[/ QUOTE ] Antonio says he didn't write that article (according to Paul Phillips in his blog a while back). Antonio is supposed to approve the articles "written" "by" "him" before Bluff publishes them, but in this case that apparently didn't happen. |

I've seen his website. It isn't very removed from the magazine article, content-wise. I'll wager he wrote that article, and perhaps it was a bit edited (a BIT). He's somewhat of an idiot.

Re: Bluff Magazine...seems like it\'s not too bad...
While I was at the WSOP ME, I picked up a free copy of Bluff, mainly because there were two really hot chicks manning the booth in which it was displayed. When I mentioned that I had never heard of the magazine before, one of the babes declared that it was the #1 selling poker magazine in the country. Needless to say, my eyebrow arched up real high when I heard that. I read it and thought it was OK, but not nearly the in-depth quality of Cardplayer.
